Certifications are used widely to select which cybersecurity job candidates to interview. This innovative report summarizes the results of a survey of 2,500 cybersecurity professionals who hold two or more popular cybersecurity certifications: Security+, CISSPĀ®, CISA, GSEC, GCIH, and CEH. For each certification, respondents reported how likely they would be to recommend a job applicant who holds that certification be interviewed for a hands-on, entry-level cybersecurity role.
Results: Among the certifications focused on cybersecurity knowledge, candidates who hold the CISSP certification are three times as likely to be selected for a job interview than either Security+ or CISA certification holders (34.8% for CISSP vs 11.6% for each of the others). CEH certification holders were less likely to be interviewed than any other popular certification (9.3%). Candidates who hold certifications focused on job skills were as likely or more likely to be interviewed as CISSP holders. (GCIH 46.6%, GSEC 33.8% vs CISSP 34.8%)
